Latest Wisconsin Supreme Court Counts With and Without Controversial Counts

Here's the updated counts for the Wisconsin Supreme Court election after various counties have completed their official counts. Since the results from Waukesha County still aren't clear, I'll provide two scenarios. The first scenario uses the latest count from Waukesha County, which includes the 14,315 votes from Brookfield that we were told were missing from the original count. The second scenario uses the latest count from Waukesha County, but assuming the 14,315 votes from Brookfield were already included in the original count. Who knows what will end up coming out of the Waukesha County Clerk's office, but this is the clearest picture I can imagine right now.

I should also point out that I arrived at my count from the various posts on the WisPolitics Election blog, though my count for votes gained by Kloppenburg appears to differ from their latest count. I haven't been able to determine why, so these numbers could be incorrect but shouldn't.

These are the original numbers provided by the Associated Press.

(In alphabetical order)
Kloppenburg:740,090
Prosser:739,886
Kloppenburg up by 204 votes in total

By supporting efforts such as the Open Voting Consortium, we can add more transparency to our elections and avoid these situations altogether.

Update: (4/8/2011 1:13pm) Removed suspicions about numbers since they're basically irrelevant and only cloud the discussion. The truly relevant suspicions are with regard to the vote counting process and the election system in Waukesha County as well as the time between the error's discovery and its public announcement.
